The way my husband’s father treats him over his Dave car and not owning a home has infuriated me

The Question: BS2: So frustrated with our families right now. They think we are absolutely crazy for being on this journey .

They talk down to us and think we are not successful/not making very much money because of our lifestyle (making over 200k, living on about 60k. Renting a small place, driving Dave cars and shopping at thrift stores).

I usually really don’t care AT ALL, but the way my husband’s father treats him over his Dave car and not owning a home has infuriated me. He treats him like he’s not a man and constantly belittles us. My mother in law also talks down to me, insinuating that I am not providing a good enough life for our daughter. Any advice from someone who has been there would be greatly appreciated.

⇒ ANSWER 1: My MIL handed my husband a $20 bill smiling at me after he mentioned being out of “fun money” on the budget. Some people just expect to die with payments. We are not going to be those people.

⇒ ANSWER 2: People who become rude about how other people handle money are projecting their shame about their own finances onto you.

Bless their heart.

Stay the course and pray for them.

⇒ ANSWER 3: As my husband always tells me. Don't listen to them. The way I look at it. People who talk down what you do in your life are unhappy with theirs and want everyone to feel the same. If YOU are happy with your progress and where you are at in your journey that is what matters.

And even if you are unhappy with where you're at, you are taking ACTION to change where you are at and that in it's self if huge.

Honestly I've had to give the line.. Are you going to pay my bills? And usually quiets them down. Shake it off and keep chugging forward... Look at what they say as a challenge.. Live the best life you can...

⇒ ANSWER 4: I make over 300k a year and we live on 50k a year baby step 7 everyday millionaire several times over . Drive a 2007 Honda crv with 105k miles and a 2014 Honda crv with 225k miles on it . What I have learned is I don’t care what others think.
